CNP Assurances, a subsidiary of La Banque Postale, has become the world number-one insurer in Sustainalytics’ ESG ratings and now ranks in the “Negligible ESG risk” category, the agency’s highest rating.
This distinction is a strong recognition of the Group’s long-term commitment to sustainable development and its ability to integrate environmental, social and governance issues into its work as an insurer, long-term investor and responsible company.
Significant growth recognised by a leading player
This performance is part of a continuous improvement drive. In 18 months, CNP Assurances has moved up six spots among the insurers assessed by Sustainalytics. The Group ranked as the leading French insurer in the February 2025 ratings and now stands as the world number one.
This progress reflects the continued strengthening of the management of ESG issues at the Group in step with the ever-increasing sustainability expectations of customers, investors, partners and all stakeholders.
A concrete illustration of the Lead for Impact strategy
CNP Assurances’ Sustainalytics rating illustrates the relevance of its Lead for Impact strategy aimed at strengthening the Group’s positive contribution to today’s major environmental and societal transitions while creating sustainable value for its stakeholders.
Through this objective, CNP Assurances intends to fully play its role as insurer, investor and responsible employer by making sustainability matters central to its decisions, investments and products and services. The Group’s improved rating is based in particular on concrete progress identified by Sustainalytics:
- the strengthening of cybersecurity and personal data protection,
- the development of responsible solutions and marketing that are focused on the interests of customers, as well as the strengthening of ethics and compliance systems.
By taking first place in Sustainalytics’ ESG ratings and moving up into the “Negligible ESG risk” category, CNP Assurances is confirming its ambition to rank as a leading player in sustainable insurance internationally and actively contribute to a more resilient, inclusive and low-carbon economy.
“This first place worldwide in Sustainalytics’ ESG ratings is a major recognition of our long-term commitment to sustainability. It rewards the efforts we have made over the last few years to make ESG a central part of our strategy and business model. With this score, and with a negligible risk rating, we are showing our ability to combine sustainable performance, long-term value creation and a positive impact for society.” indicate Sarah Bouquerel, Group Chief Financial and Non-Financial Officer, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of CNP Assurances.
