Libraries Without Borders and the CNP Assurances Foundation have just announced that Sarcelles in the Île-de-France region has won their call for proposals to implement the second “Health Ideas Box” in the fight against social inequality in health care.

Following in the wake of the Boulonnais urban community in September 2017, Sarcelles, just north of Paris, is now going to be able to deploy this innovative scheme designed to support the healthcare prevention policy that it has adopted for its inhabitants, particularly young people in its priority neighbourhoods.

For a long time now, Sarcelles has been implementing a policy committed to helping young people and children in priority neighbourhoods via a solid network of partners offering varied activities during school time, extracurricular periods and the holidays. It boasts numerous associations and organisations (sports facilities, municipal football school, media library, a town rugby association, etc.), as well as an academic success programme for providing young people with personalised support.

The CNP Assurances Foundation’s Ideas Box is a fully-fledged mobile “pop-up” multimedia library that fits on two pallets and can be set up in under 20 minutes to create a 100 m² information hub. Supplied with twenty or so touch tablets, four laptops, several eBook-readers, books, a cinema module and an Internet connection, this device is a superb tool for innovation and discovery. It provides young people with a dedicated area equipped with resources for learning about health issues (books, magazines, websites, etc.).

By deploying the CNP Assurances Foundation's Health Ideas Box, Sarcelles will be able to focus on the four themes chosen by the town's Education Hub: well-being and depression, sexual and affective relationships, access to rights and treatment and drug prevention.

To raise as many people's awareness as possible, the Health Ideas Box will also be aimed at parents, professionals and the town's other populations.

Libraries without Borders and the CNP Assurances Foundation will provide the town with support throughout the deployment of the Health Ideas Box.
