A participant on the Jovem de Expressão Programme – launched by the CNP Assurances group's Brazilian subsidiary Caixa Seguradora – is representing Brazil on the UN Economic and Social Council in New York.

Wagner Silva, 22, was selected to represent his country, Brazil, at the meeting of the UN Economic and Social Council on 2 and 3 February 2015. Wagner is one of the designers of the collaborative space created by the Jovem de Expressão Programme in Brazil's Federal District (the region around Brasilia).

Caixa Seguradora set up the Jovem de Expressão Programme in 2007 to promote training and entrepreneurialism among young people aged 18 to 24 from disadvantaged areas of Brasilia. One of the programme's pillars is scientific research, with the aim of adapting behaviour and improving quality of life and local development.

The UN Economic and Social Council organised a two-day forum for 300 young people from all Member States, featuring activities to share ideas on specific subjects relating to youth and sustainable development. The aim of the meeting is to encourage young people to take part in a transition from the Millennium Development Goals‎ (MDGs) to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This invitation marks recognition by the UN of the Jovem de Expressão Programme, which has been supported and developed by Caixa Seguradora for several years. The programme's role is to offer opportunities to young people from the suburbs of the Brazilian capital and to create innovation spaces. According to the UN representative in Brazil, Jorge Chediek, "It is fundamental to be able to count on the participation and commitment of the private sector to address questions relating to youth and the future of Brazil. The Jovem de Expressão Programme is an initiative by Caixa Seguradora and the UNODC to reinforce young people's potential and talent, by asserting their independence in a new way."
