This press release is published together with la FAGE.

As part of its ongoing commitment to combating COVID-19, CNP Assurances is increasing the support its Foundation has provided since 2016 to FAGE (the Fédération des Associations Générales Etudiantes - Federation of General Student Associations), to help the most disadvantaged students, whose living conditions have deteriorated with the COVID-19 crisis.

As this health crisis is also bringing about a social crisis, which is hitting disadvantaged students particularly hard, FAGE, to which the Fondation CNP Assurances has been a partner since 2016, is boosting its intervention work. CNP Assurances is supporting FAGE’s COVID 19-related actions with a special grant of €100,000.

It must be remembered that 20% of students live below the poverty line, that 65% of them regularly skip a meal due to a lack of resources and that a third have to carry out a paid activity to make ends meet during their studies1. With the closure of universities and the lockdown, their situation has quickly deteriorated.

During this time of crisis, FAGE is working to:

•    Maintain food aid by ensuring the continued operation of the AGORAé, the socially-responsible grocery stores it has set up on the campuses to help students in difficulty
•    Obtain personal protective equipment to ensure the safety of volunteers (face masks, gloves, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.)
•    Guarantee educational continuity, to ensure that students can continue to study
•    Financing teleconsultation sessions with a psychologist.

Among other things, the support from CNP Assurances will make it possible to ensure that the AGORAé are better stocked with essential food products, to purchase protective equipment to protect the association’s volunteers against COVID-19, and also to finance IT equipment, connective equipment and teleconsultation sessions with psychologists to provide support for students during the lockdown.

Since the start of this health crisis, we have seen an incredible outpouring of solidarity. Thousands of young people are working selflessly on initiatives aimed at helping society’s most vulnerable citizens, feeding them, supporting them through this and ensuring that they don’t feel alone. This collective movement will be all the stronger thanks to this outstanding support from CNP Assurances”, stressed FAGE’s president Orlane François.

During this unprecedented health crisis, more than ever before our role as a responsible insurer is to protect people over the long term. Along with FAGE, a long-standing partner of our Foundation, CNP Assurances is continuing to support disadvantaged students, fully in keeping with its societal commitments”, explained Agathe Sanson, Director of Strategic Marketing, Communication and Sponsorship for CNP Assurances.
