Paris, 2 June 2017,

On Thursday 1 June, in La Villette (Paris, 19th arrondissement), 4,400 young people in CM2 (fifth grade) were trained in giving first aid to someone suffering a cardiac arrest and in the use of a defibrillator.

This operation “All young people have a heart” is a unique event in terms of its scale.
Fondation CNP Assurances, engaged since 2009 in encouraging people to take responsibility in the event of cardiac arrest, and since 2015 in the fight against health inequality in society, was involved in the project. Established by the AJILA Foundation, the City Hall and Rectorship of Paris were also associated with this initiative.

The children were placed in real rescue situations. They were trained by 190 volunteers, first-aiders from Paris Seine Civil Protection, the French Red Cross, staff from the National Education system, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris, the Paris Fire Service and representatives from the City of Paris.
To do the training, every young person was given a “Bob”, an individual training dummy. They could then share their experience with their family.

“By spreading the best practices learned, every child becomes a link in the survival chain”, said Sylvie Chaumont-Vallon, head of Fondation CNP Assurances.
