The Club Wi-Filles was launched at the Collège Claude Debussy school in Angers on 30 January. A project supported by our Foundation, which was put forward by Sébastien Masset, a staff member from Angers.

The Wi-Filles introductory programme to digital occupations and skills, the winner of La France s’Engage* 2015, was created by the Fondation Agir Contre l’Exclusion (FACE - the Foundation for Action against Exclusion) Seine Saint Denis. Its aim is to reduce inequality between the sexes in the technology and IT engineering fields.

As part of this programme, Sébastien, a CNP Assurances staff member from Angers, received support from our foundation to develop a project aimed at young girls aged 13 to 15 attending one of the schools in the priority districts of the city of Angers, working with the FACE Angers Loire business club.

This project seeks to provide better support for schoolgirls to help improve their understanding of possible careers in the IT field, to make them more independent and to empower them to take direction of their future career thanks to 3 actions:

  • Personalised support through workshops and meetings to create the right conditions for them to succeed;
  • Skills and knowledge acquisition workshops, providing a complete 360° overview of the digital sector;
  • The involvement of professionals from the digital industries to organise workshops, visits to companies operating in the digital field and meetings with the aim of helping young girls to come forward and assert themselves through role models.

Two intakes of 20 to 25 pupils have been organised.

The first Club Wi-Filles will run from January to May 2019, for 2 hours a week or 3 hours every 15 days (according to the workshop in question and the scheduled visits). The second club will run from September to December 2019.
