Mr Jean-Paul Faugère was head of the Prime Minister’s office from 2007 to 2012, having previously been head of François Fillon’s office (when he was Minister of Social Affairs and then Minister of National Education) (2002-2005) and prefect for the Alsace-Bas Rhin region (2005- 2007).
Prior to this, Jean Paul Faugère held the following positions and directorships: insurance commissioner and controller (1980-1981), auditor to the Council of State (1983), rapporteur for the Special Pensions Appeal Committee and the Central Committee for Social Assistance (1983-1986), maître des requêtes (Counsel) to the Council of State (1986), government commissioner for the CCAS (1986-1987), deputy secretary-general of the Council of State (1986-1987), technical adviser to the Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Housing (1987-1988), government commissioner for the Council of State’s litigation assembly (1988-1990), advisor to the general administrator (1990) and then the finance director (1991-1994) of the Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), director of civil liberties and legal affairs at the Ministry of the Interior (1994-1997), prefect for Loir and Cher (1997-2001), for La Vendée (2001-2002), and state councillor (1998).
